opie profile image task and peer evaluation
Today in Media Studies, I looked at the work of Julien Opie including the very famous album cover he produced for Blur. I looked into his work in order to gain some experience on Photoshop which will inevitabely help when making the digipak alongside my final product. I took a self photograph and used tools on Photoshop to acheive an effect mirroring that of Julien Opie. Before completing this task I wasn't at all confident on Photoshop. We did a "3,2,1" style activity to highlight the areas which we felt we needed more experience in. For me, it was mainly being able to work efficiently with multiple layers and being able to find all of the effects that Photoshop has to offer. On completing this task I feel much more confident with my ability and skills on Photoshop and can now use the magnetic lassoo, burn and dodge and colour indicator tools efficiently. I have also gained confidence in working with layers and using multiple layers at the same time to create a much more professional outcome. After the task, we did some peer assessing in which I receieved an evaluation of my work. My peer felt that I had used the colour indicator tool efficiently as it matched the colours on my face and clothing. They gave me points to improve upon such as practising with the burn and dodge tool to make definitive lines on facial expressions and clothing to seperate body parts and add realistic effects.
